Get ready for some thrilling racing action! Jack Perkins is gearing up to take on the track with a powerful new partnership. But here's the twist: he's joining forces with Triple Eight to race a Mustang Cup entry, and it's set to be an unforgettable ride!
Perkins, a seasoned Supercars competitor with an impressive racing resume, has announced his ambitious plans for the upcoming series. With the support of Shaw & Partners and Triple Eight, he's all set to make his mark in the #888 Mustang.
The car will be expertly managed by HMO Customer Racing, a team with an impressive track record, having claimed three TCR Australia titles with Hyundai. Perkins got a taste of the action on Monday at Sydney Motorsport Park, where he drove the Objective Racing-backed Mustang Supercar during a multi-team event.
And now, the real excitement begins! This evening, Perkins will take the Mustang Cup car for a spin, participating in the highly anticipated pre-season launch and test event of the new one-make category.
Perkins expressed his enthusiasm: "I'm thrilled to be part of the very first Ford Mustang Cup Australia, thanks to Shaw and Partners Financial Services. It's an incredible opportunity, and I'm grateful to Earl Evans for providing his brand-new Mustang Dark Horse R for this season."
He continued, "It's been a lot of hard work and investment to get to this point, but we've built a fantastic program. A huge thank you to all our sponsors, including Shaw and Partners Financial Services, Southern Cross Truck Rentals, Castrol, TLC Auto Centre, Xpress Fleet, and ARB Penrith."
Perkins, a Supercars race winner and Bathurst 1000 podium finisher, is the first big name to join the Mustang Cup Australia lineup. His presence adds a touch of star power to the series.
He shared his excitement: "The Mustang Cup Series has all the ingredients for an amazing championship. With Ford's backing and those stunning cars, I can't wait to get racing. Our #888 Mustang, designed by Peter Hughes, looks incredible, and I'm grateful to HMO Customer Racing for making it happen."
Perkins and his team are aiming high, targeting race wins and the championship title. The season opener at Phillip Island on March 27-29, as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries, promises to be an unmissable event for racing enthusiasts.
And this is where it gets interesting: Will Perkins' experience and the Mustang's power be enough to secure the championship? Or will there be unexpected twists and turns along the way?
